How can I factor this: 3a2+6ab+3b2?

Could some please show me how to factor this, I have no idea how to do it. If you don’t know how to factor can you at least post a website that explains how. Thanks in advance.

3a2 + 6ab + 3b2

divide by 3 to get

3 ( a2 + 2ab + b2)

reduce the polynomial

3 [(a + b) x (a + b)]

reduce the bracket

3 (a + b)2

blueskies
3a^2+6ab+3b^2 = 3(a^2 + 2ab + b^2)

Because the only factor common to all three terms is “3”

3a^2 has two a’s but no b’s

6ab has on a and one b

3b^2 has two b’s but no a’s

3a^2 + 6ab + 3b^2 =

3(a^2 + 2ab + b^2) =

3(a+b)^2
