How can I become a licensed electrician?
I have been told I can just test for it. I have been an Electrician for near 10 years. But none of the time counts because I was never under a Master Electrician. I have done much work for Ford, Chrysler, GM, and Harley-Davidson. Any input would be helpful.

Why don’t those hours count, it doesn’t make sense.
You need an apprentice license maybe, I would try to ask around in your city so you can just take the test

I have been licensed in three states, Minnesota, Washington, and Louisiana. In La. you can take one of two paths. one path is you can go to a trade school. and work under a master for 3 years and test for your journeyman license. Or. you can work 5 years under a master. The reason is that the National electric code by which all states determne weather or not the instalation of the electrical system is safe. Must be adhered to, to insure that those people that come in contact with the system do not get killed because of improper instalation. That is why you must work under a master electrician so that you not onl;y learn the practical but you learn the code also!

if you know about Ohms and Watts and Amps
how to use a VOM, what ground is, etc.
