Honors programs are generally reserved for students who have shown above average academic skill and are capable of taking on a more rigorous course of study. It will be one of many factors that an employer may look at in evaluating an applicant. Employers will generally look positively on participation in an honors program, but will help only to the extent that it is supported by other factors–grades, a well rounded resume of extracurricular and service activities, intern programs, etc. etc.

An honors program just involves seperate courses that the best students in the college get to take (or, they might have the same courses, but they get smaller class sizes and/or more discussion-based learning). I am not sure if that will be mentioned on your degree. It might be mentioned if you have to do certain requirements each year for it (and actually complete the requirements).

You can also “graduate with honors” in your major by completing a research project in your major and keep a certain GPA in your major subjects (usually like 3.5). This can be mentioned to your prospective employers.
