HI I want some examples of Good books to expand my english vocabulary?

to begin with I would personally recommend books by

Charlotte Bronte – (Jane eyre is a classic and excellent to read)

Charles Dickens – (A Christmas carol and Oliver Twist)

Mark Twain – (The Adventures of Tom Sawyer is his best book according to me)

Gerald Durrell – ( A Personal favourite of mine – his book ‘my family and other animals’ will keep you laughing till the end)

OK ! If you dont like classics and want to read something contemporary…….

Sidney Sheldon (ALL his books are good page turners)

John Grisham (ALL especially ‘The Firm’ and ‘The Innocent man’)

Jeffrey Archer (read his collection of short stories it’s called -“to cut a long story short”)

Fredrick Forsyth ( ‘The Afghan’ is his best book but warning it tends to drag at some times)

Issac Asimov – I,Robot (even if you have seen the movie the book is totally different and better) and read The Foundation Series

H.G.Wells – The Time Machine and War of the worlds

A dictionary is still the best thing to have to improve vocabulary. Whenever you see a word you don’t know the meaning of – look it up. If out and about, write it down and look up on-line (dictionary.com is one place) or in a real dictionary.

The link below should also help you if you want to study.

If it’s vocabulary you want, get an English dictionary. However, it will not tell you how to use the words.

Use simple words but correct grammar is my advice.

I find that any book I might read, I always learn a new word or two. You could go to the Public Library and see what they have. The Librarian should be able to help you.

Any book in general that’s college level.

you need books that you hv interest on it.

eg. some people they don’t like mandarin(chinese language). they said hard to learn. But when they starting reading fiction that they are interested, they got a big improvement on their chinese language.

The interest make them learn faster than ever.
