I am not sure about Tennessee, but I know in some states it is public knowledge. You can go to the Department of Education website. On that site under teacher resources you can type in the teachers name and it should give you the educational information on that teacher.

I live in Texas, but I did some checking. Go to “www.state.tn.us/sbe” and click on “Teacher Certification Information.” That’s the Tennessee State Board of Education. You should be able to look up her qualifications just by using her name…that’s how it is in our state anyway. If you can’t do it that way, just give them a call and ask them about her certification qualifications. If she’s teaching you or your child, you have the right to know.

I’m not sure about Tennessee but I don’t think it’s public record. I know you can go online in CA and look up a credential but that’s it. You should ask the teacher or principal.

If you are in doubt of a teachers qualifications you can contact the state dept of public instruction if it is a public school , or the University if it is a college. THey should be able to verify if the teacher has a claimed degree and from where they got it. At that point you can verify with the college that supposedly gave them the degree.

The state commission on education will only show you the teaching credentials of an instructor. The level of education is between the school and the teacher. I suggest you ask the teacher.

Well there’s always the old-fashioned way. Ask her, and have her show you her diploma.
