help with school and college.?

Okay im a sophmore(well going to be) and i attend and all smart ppl school. We take all AP classes and its a collge prep school. Well out of 80 graduates ill be like #70 in my class. That means i wont be able to get into my collge of choice texas a&m which only allows people who graduated in there top 50% of there class even apply! I wont get a huge scholorship there and if i graduated there ill go to a school like lamar or UTSA. If i go to a regualr school ill certainly be in the top 10 of my class and get to go to A&M and get a huge scholorship but i wont be as prepared for college because at my school we only have lectures all day everyday (FRESHMAN YR OF HS) which is just like collge and collge will be a breeze for me.

What should i do?

I believe you should get a tutor in English. Once you master the techniques of writing, your other subjects will be easier for you.

If I understand you correctly, you need guidance on whether to continue to attend a college prep high school or transfer to a regular public school, where your class rank would undoubtedly be higher. If attending Texas A&M is a high priority for you, then you should transfer to a public school.

First of all, re-read your posting, because if that is the way you write your college application essay, you can kiss college good-bye.

Secondly, 50% of 80 is 40, so why do you think that graduating #70 isn’t in the top 50%? Also, if you DO need to improve your class standing, you have three years in which to do it.

What should you do? Stop worrying about what college you may or may not get into and pay attention to being the best student you can now.

Javier,

First, don’t settle for 70th out of 80 — no matter how “smart” the school, strive to be closer to the top. Second, contact A&M admissions and get the scoop on how they review applications from private schools such as yours — as a college professor I’m betting the “top 50%” is for public school applicants. Finally, don’t narrow your choices so stringently so early in your life — there are hundreds of GREAT colleges and universities in this country and you would be happy at many of them! Focus on developing your talents, intellect, and sense of self — and you’ll find the right match, I promise. (PS — same advice holds for dating …)
