Music provokes an emotional reaction and some people lack the ability to take a step back and think about how it is affecting them. Ever notice how often bad drivers and boy-racers so often listen to thumping loud music when they drive? The music goes straight to their brains and makes them drive too fast and too dangerously.

if you have any doubt about how music affects your emotional state, try listening to violent rap music (50 cent etc) and then switch to listening to something calm and gentle like Nothing Compares To You (Sinnead O’Connor).
