Sure, all of the time. Not just men. But picture someone who refuses to ask directions, and consequently wanders around like a fool. Someone who goes to a store and wanders around like some kind of alien rather than asking a clerk where to find something. Someone with a degree–like a lawyer or other “boss” who refuses to ask a subordinate how to do something basic like turn on the computer or dial out on a complicated phone system. I see it all of the time. There are always consequences of pride, even if we don’t always see them.
That comment about Bush is entirely uncalled for. In spite of the Michael Murphys of the world who exploit other people’s ignorance to perpetuate small-minded lies in order to feed their own agenda, it is still only ethical, responsible and decent to respect the office of the presidency. What are YOU doing that makes you worthy? Just because our hallowed democracy allows freedom of speech does not make you–or your irreverance–of any value whatsoever.
