GMAT preparation course?

I am thinking of take GMAT pre course at Kaplan and it like 14 weeks for Math and Verbal, plus 6 weeks for AWA and the cost so expensive ( 2,700usd)(in Tokyo) However language required at least 550 TOEFL and i got only 500 for level check. Someone said i can study by myself with guide book and study online as well, no need to spent that much money!

I will have trial lesson for 01 hour on this Thus then see how, but actually tution fee is so expensive and I am so confusing. I am preparing for MBA in Fall 2008.

Any suggesion? please advise. Thanks so much!

Unless your English is much better than your question suggests (like you were typing fast and didn’t bother to correct), and especially if you’re good at math, I’d recommend that you instead spend most of that money on general English lessons that focus a lot on grammar and reading. Also, find out how much the school you want to go to cares about the AWA–6 weeks on that seems like a lot.

If you improve your English a lot and you’re good at math, you can study by yourself, otherwise, I don’t think the course will necessarily help you.

There are advantages to both prep courses and self-studying. It really depends on your studying style. If you need guidance/structure and understand material better it is being explained to you by another person, then you should take the prep course. On the other hand, self-studying offers a lot of time flexibility. No matter what you choose to do, you must be serious and committed to GMAT preparation.

I agree with Goddess of Grammar, you need to work on your English skill. I think you should take the course.
