i did have to wear uniforms……and there was a good article in our english book about how uniforms are a good thing…but with not having to wear them u have more freedom and can express your self better…but wearing uniforms can lower school violence and it doesn’t make you feel like you have to dress like the popular students to fit in like if you were wearing anything u want…and also a dresscode is different the wearing uniforms….we don’t have to wear uniforms at my new school but we still have a dress code like not wearing tank tops….but i guess that uniforms can be bad because people not see the true you

The biggest issue that arises from school dress codes is the lack of expression. Everyone’s different, and enforcing a dress code in such a diverse community such as a school is grounds for debate and more fashion rebellion just to prove a point. Remember that it always takes at least one person to screw it up for everyone else, and some people simply don’t have the morality when it comes to the wardrobe. So, in essence, the whole reason the dress code is unfair is because of that one girl who decided to show too much skin or that one guy who was wearing a t-shirt with an obscene or offensive message on it, or because of the homie that likes to bring his gun to school. Blame people like them for having to wear khakis and polo shirts, not the administration. Besides, you’re gonna have a dress code all your life anyway because in the real world, whichever job you have is gonna have a dress code, so get used to it 😉

You have to buy them in addition to your normal clothes. In a public school setting, I think that is a little unfair, especially to the poor people.

Freedom of expression is limited, since people cannot wear what they want.

I don’t have to wear uniforms, but my public school does not allow shoulders to be seen. After asking for a reason, my principal, told me that shoulders can be considered distracting and sexy therefore they should not be seen.

I can understand banning spagetti straps or tube tops, but shoulders? What the heck?

I don’t have to wear uniforms at my school. But I might switch schools, so who knows?

Oh be quiet…just learn to follow the rules.

School is not a democracy…it’s a learning institution….

so, learn.
