I can think of two kinds of dialog: face to face and offset.

Face-to-face is you talking to one another. Let’s say: #1 broke up with his girlfriend and #2 is the person he’s telling it to. (normal conversation). It could be two best friends talking or #2 having slept with #1’s girlfriend. or both…

Offset is fun, but a bit harder to do. #1 broke up and is thinking out loud, while #2 stands in the back, echoing his thoughts. Ex: (with Cindy as the girlfriend)

#1: I can’t believe she did this to me!

#2: He should’ve seen it coming. Cindy’s been talking about it all week long behind his back.

#1: What happened? What did I do?

#2: He didn’t do anything, Cindy’s been doing plenty with some other guy for a while now.

#1: I thought we where happy…

#2: It was fun, but Cindy was just trying him on for size. It’s okay. What was she supposed to do, marry him?

You can add a punchline and have #2 be the other guy…
