Fafsa – how soon will I gat the aid?

I applied for aid late – in the beginning of July (was waiting for a green card), I already got my SAR with EFC (is this right) saying zero, I already applied to college and took all placement tests and scored extremely well, so I will surely be accepted… the question: will I still get the aid in time so I won’t have to pay that tuition myself? I am a bit confused, I do not have the money…

I don’t think you’ll get you aid on time. You might get the aid in the middle of your semester. If I were you, I would ask my financial aid counselor from your school about the definite time you’ll get the aid, because it also depends on the school’s processing time for your financial aid. As for the tuition, usually schools don’t charge you ’til you’re halfway through you semester. I believe you can still enroll and not pay until the end of the semester.

Make an appointment to speak with a Financial aid rep. at the school you are applying too.

Usually what will happen is that you will be preappoved for an “estimate” amount of money. This will prevent the college from dropping any credits you register for.

However, the money must be transferred to the college in a timely manner. The two colleges I have gone to have never dropped any of my classes before the $$ gets transferred. Keep on top of the FA office just to make sure they know the situation.

if it’s been approved in the computer the aid office might be able to credit it, ask them. 1 or 2 months i’d think.
