Examples of Tropes or Figure Of Speech in Orwell’s 1984?

What is the 2+2 =5 in the book? Metaphor? Paradox? What?

What is Big Brother is Watching You? Literally, big brother is not watching you, but just the saying…is that a metaphor?

What other examples of tropes and figures of speech could I include in a paper?

Ministry of Truth…is that a paradox?

Doublespeak. To do it, is to say one thing and mean exactly the other. They tortured people in the Ministry of Love.

No, Big Brother WAS watching you. It was no metaphor. They could view you from your screen. They even created an elusive Resistance to sniff out the disloyal!

In Orwell’s book, people are mostly mind numbed to all of it and just go through the motions of living. The central characters are asking, ” is this all there is?”

I laughed, years ago, before 1984, at how stupid it was…that the govt. couldn’t bug everywhere with cameras and mics….not the woods…. well, today, EVERYONE pretty much has a cell phone with a camera. There are cameras in cities to stop crime, cameras on the mountain passes to check for weather, and there’s Google Earth, where you can see everyplace. So suddenly, it’s not so stupid afterall. With your cell phone on, you can be tracked, individually.
