Don’t you just get tired of going to school for a little while?

I mean it’s fun but since I’m going to become a doctor I feel as if it’ll never end. Plus, I don’t want to be a doctor but I’m being forced into it. I like sports/acting not doctor, but if I have to I will.

If you don’t want to be a doctor, don’t. This is YOUR life. And it’s not a year or five, it’s forever. If you are interested in medicine, what about sports medicine/physical therapy and rehabs? This would combine your interest in medicine and sports.

For me, I’m planning on going for my doctorate in English. By the end of the school year I’m ready for a break, but I always go nuts during the long summer break. It’s just too long for me. I hate not being busy. I think I thrive on deadlines and hard work. I think your problem isn’t that you are sick of school, it sounds like you are frustrated by being pushed into a career you don’t want. Stand up for yourself. You will be working for a lot of years before retirement. Do something you like. It’s the main key to a happy life, versus one of misery in a job you hate. If you are determined to stick in the medical field, find an aspect of it that fits your interests.

1) Yes, everyone gets tired of school, at times, even the best students.

2) More importantly, if you are not happy with your job, you will have a VERY SAD life!! Either look NOW into getting into sports medicine, or start acting as a hobby on the side, or start facing the fact that you may need to have a serious talk with your (parents?) about what is important for your life!

Enjoy school while you can- I wish I were back there, cramming for finals, writing papers, learning new things. well, I enjoyed it because I went to a liberal arts school. but if you’re ‘forced’ to major in something you don’t like then i can imagine it can be a bit of a torturous experience- why are you being forced to become a doctor? I don’t think you should do anything that your heart is not into, especially when it comes to a profession that involves taking care of others’ health- that’s a huge decision and I don’t think you should put all that time and energy into it if you don’t want to do it

Yes every student feels that way at some point but you must remember your goal. That is what you will achieve from getting an education. You need to pursue a programme you enjoy and not one that someone else wants for you. It is your life and you will be the one practising your chosen profession. You certainly need to decide which career path you will take and which will help you to achieve your goal. Good luck.
