Does “mice” as plural form for (computer) mouse ring right?

I know it must be mice, but to say “I have three old mice in my drawers” can scare people away from rummaging into my stuff to, say, borrow a spare 🙂

It seems that for computer mouse, people use either mice or mouses as plural. This is confirmed by both Wikipedia and Merriam-webster.

I tend to use mouses when I refer to plural for computer mouse, but then I do run the risk of being corrected by people !

counting on questioning it is the two. Mouse while relating the optical pointing gadget is a suited noun, there for is a “separate” notice to mouse, the rodent, that’s a noun. despite the fact that while in plural variety it style of crosses over. you are able to confer with them jointly as mouses (utilising the right noun context) or mice (utilising the noun context) and the two are technically spectacular. It in spite of the undeniable fact that continues to be incorrect to confer with a collection of mice (animals) as mouses.

My colleagues and I have actually had this conversation. When referring to a computer mouse, it seems to be mouse. Like deer is deer whether there is one one or ten. If referring to mouse (animal) then it is mice. That has been our conclusion and seems to be the accepted standard.

interesting question,

I prefer mouses to mice.

oh, I havent used the plural of mouse yet.

It’s unsual to say “I saw three lovely mice in the store so I bought them.”
