Does having reading class in high school show up as something bad while trying to apply for college?
Would it stop me from getting in?

Typically, colleges aren’t worried so much about which classes you took in high school as much as they are worried about the diploma you received (did you receive at least a regular diploma); and, potentially your admissions test scores (SAT, ACT or other test specified by the college). If you’re concerned, contact the admissions office of the college you are interested in and ask for a pre-admissions review. They’ll let you know if they think there’s anything you need to beef up on your transcript or on your educational resume in order to get in.
If you’re extremely worried, look for a college that has “open enrollment” policies. Typically these colleges are less concerned with classes and grades and are much more focused on finding and educating students who wish to be well-rounded.
Best of luck!
