All colonial (imperialist) experiences have good and bad outcomes. Sometimes the bad outcomes are extreme.

In the case of India, I’d guess that the development of democracy in the long run trumps the bad. India can be proud of beint the world’s largest democratic state.

Some would argue that democracy would have happened anyway without British influence, but that really hasn’t happened in any other really large Asian country.
