It depends on what you mean by “harass”. If you mean, do we hate students who ask us a lot of questions or needed a lot of help, the answer is that we do have plenty of sympathy for them, because it usually means that they care. If you mean students who complain all the time, threaten us, make prank phone calls, or engage in other inappropriate behaviors, then while we don’t hate them, we are frankly glad to see them graduate.

The students who give me the most problems are the ones who are crying out for the most help. These tend to be the ones I grow closest to and remember the most because they are the ones who put my credentials, patience, and ingenuity to the test. Generally speaking, teachers do not hate the troublemakers.
