Do massage therapy schools have to be accredited?

I saw some massage therapy schools are accredited. Does the school have to be accredited if all you get is a certificate? It’s not like you get a degree. You have to take a national exam to get a license, so does it matter whether the school is accredited? I’m asking because I found a community college that offers a massage therapy program, but it doesn’t say if it’s accredited.

Nobody “has” to be accredited. But certification from accredited institutions has much more utility. What you want to do is to go to the web and find out which agency in your jurisdiction licenses message therapists and see what they say about certification.

Good luck.

In order to award any type of certificate or degree program, a school must be accredited.

If the program is offered through a PUBLIC community college, they are usually accredited to award certificates and degrees.

Call the Community College and ask them if their program is accredited.

Whewre I went to massage school it made all the difference. You couldn’t get a license if you graduated from a non-accredited school. And even still your license won’t travel to another state usually.
