do i have a shot?

do i have a shot in getting into university of Illinois urbana-champaign? they have a really good engineering program that i want to get into, but dont know if i can. here id my info, can you give me you opinion?

ps do i have to declare a major for this school if i want to do engineering later. i ask this because a lot of school i have looked at say that you must declare if you are majoring in engineering. if i dont have to, it will increase my chances.

GPA (Cumulative): 4.07

GPA (Sophomore/ Junior): 4.15

SAT: 1850 (I plan on retaking it)

I think you can do anything with those kind of scores if you really set your mind to it. i don’t no much about standards of engineering though.

My friend started college as a math major at a school where you had to declare if you wanted to go into engineering. She switched to engineering, but it took her an additional 4 years from that point because of how the program is set up. It took her 6 years total at that college to get an engineering degree(2 as a math major, then 4 in engineering). You can always switch majors, but it may take a lot longer to get your degree.
