hmmm – I think that’s a tough question.
I think most teachers care for their students. But I don’t think, generally, that they love students like parents or close family.
The student/teacher relationship is important to children – but it’s on a different level.

I would have to say yes!! I’m a teacher of 29 grade 6 students and I’ve built up a good relationship with them all. I care for all of them and love them all. If they have problems, not just school problems, I’m always there to listen and to help them. The kids say they always feel that they can talk to me. I am very protective over my class too. If we go on excursions etc., i’m always looking out to make sure that they’re especially safe. If they’re being picked on by someone else, I’ll automatically defend my student first. I see them five days a week for an entire year. They definitely become a part of my life and I theirs. Many of the teachers I work with feel the same. I’m a catholic teacher, but I’m sure other teachers are the same too.

I honestly don’t think school’s like a family. I mean, sure, teachers do try and protect us in some situations, but there are some not-so-good teachers, and not all teachers really care. And you’re not gonna know you’re classmates forever, so it really doesn’t feel like a family to me, although I do enjoy school for the sake of a social life =]]
lol.

It would be nice if that were true. There are a ton of good teachers out there but there are some crappy ones too – hey they is just like our real families!!
