Differents Between Degrees?
Favorite Answer
Bachelors = 4 years – 8 semesters of full time study
Masters – traditionally (good programs anyway) take about 2 more years – 4 semesters of full time study.
Doctorate – PhD anywhere from 2-5 more years (after the masters) of classes and a dissertation.
Professional degrees MD, DDS, DVM, etc… skip the masters and you go straight to those schools- they take 4 years including summers. A JD (law) is 3 years. There are also advanced professional degrees.
A master’s degree comes after your complete the BA/BS. Some programs within some universities do allow you to begin working on your Masters while you are still completing your Bachelors. Usually you stay in college for an extra year and get both degrees.
