Difference in meaning between “satire” and “parody”?

A parody is based on something. For instance, you could make a political musical about the Bushes that is a parody of Macbeth. Satire makes fun of something but is mostly new material.

Parody means free fun. A composition that imitates somebody’s style in a humorous way. In other side satire although a humor, it is a Witty language used to convey insults or scorn.

I am not so sure I can ascertain the diference, or even the tendencies offhand. I write stire, never think about parodies. My tendency (before looking it up) is a parody is much briefer, a phrase even whereas a satire is an article, story, or even a book.

I think, if I’m writing about an unhappy situation, maybe a little tragedy of my life, so as when you reed it you’ll find it funny, that’s a satire.

If I’ll write about mine , ore somone else’s negative side, or weakness just to make you laugh… that’s a parody. (His, her, or mine…?)bye
