Dental Hygiene program- what grades do you/did you have to get in your science prerequisites to get in?
Hopefully someone can answer me… I am trying to apply for the dental hygiene program in various schools in california, and I still have Anatomy (taking it right now), Physiology and Microbiology left. What grades (gpa) did you get on just your science prerequisites to get into the program? I really want this more than anything, but I feel like my grades might not be good enough, since the program is very selective. Any good schools you may recommend to apply to? Bottom line is, do you have to have straight A’s to get in? Thank you so much.

I went to school in Tucson, AZ where they have the “first come, first serve” system. Meaning, you are going to get in for sure if you get at least a C in your prereq classes, but you have to wait for your turn. The wait is about 1-2 years, which is not bad.
The school was pretty good, they get you ready for all the exams. In our class everyone passed the clinical, and only one person failed the National Board (but this person was a HUGE slacker, he only started studying ONE(!!) week before the exam.)
Good luck.
