College textbooks. Does publication year matter.?
I am buying textbook online. They are lot cheaper. For example I am buying Chem book which is 4th ed but 2005 pub. yr. My book store is recommending 2006 publ yr. I am afraid to buy wrong textbook. What is real difference since both are 4th ED but different yr. Thanks

Yes, the pub co makes changes within the same ed.The change may not be that noticable but there are changes nevertheless. That is how these pub co and college ripe you off.

I want to say yes b/c they are frequently updated. After taking a year off I went back to college and a friend borrowd my old basic math book from the year before and it was missing things that were in the newer book. You can almost always get the newest updated books on half.com or at your local school store.

Yes it does.
The material will be mostly the same, but the homework and question numbers will change, making it very difficult to follow along.
