College Question?

I’m going to college in the fall and studying to be a physician’s assistant. I’m also swimming (D2) and participating in their honors program. Is this too much to take on freshmen year? I want to be involved, but I also expect a lot from myself and want to succeed.

I think that is a perfect goal for freshman year. Just realize that there might be other activities that seem interesting, too. Get into good study/schedule habits right away. Leave plenty of time for independent study, library, sleeping, and some relaxing.

Too many freshman spend the first semester partying and the second semester cleaning out their dorm room.

If you can budget your time wisely then I don’t see any reason why you couldn’t do it. You just need to make sure none of your practices/meets interfere with your course schedule. How many hour do you anticipate swimming to take up each day? You need time to study. When does swimming start? If it doesn’t start the first week of courses I suggest you get a feel for how much studying time you have and if you find yourself crunched for time without swimming then you will know that swimming is impossible. It’s all about time management.
