college food sucks?
I am going to college in about a month or so (exact date not determined). I love the school, but the food sucks. All I have to work with is a mini-fridge and a microwave, and a once per week trip to Super Wal-mart. Any advice to help me through the year besides ordering pizza constantly? Thanks!

It’s funny that you describe college food as bad: the “freshman fifteen” seems to hit everyone! (Freshmen gain fifteen pounds the first year of college–u may be an exception!) If I were in your situation, I would purchase a small rice steamer and a George Foreman. You can steam rice and vegetables for quick nutrious meals. For breakfasts go with yoghurt, fruit (fresh or the snack packs which don’t require refrigeration) cold cereal/milk, or a yoghurt parfait: yogurt on bottom, topped with granola and fresh or snack pack fruit. Don’t go with the quick and college popular ramen noodles! Too much salt and chemicals! Go with canned tuna, dried beef which can be tucked into a grill cheese sandwich and done on a George Foreman. Check the organic section if you can, and stock up on prepared boxed foods that can be made quickly without sacrificing nutrition.

Ramen noodles, granola bars, pretzels, sandwhich stuff, cereal, oatmeal…hopefully that will be a good starting list!
