Rose is an interesting example, because there are several meanings for rose (a flower, past tense of to rise, architectural feature, etc). It also has several homophones (words that are pronounced the same, but are spelled differently), such as rows; rhos – and rows has different meanings itself.
From memory, the Guiness Boook of Records listed ‘jack’ as the English word with the most different meanings.
