Can you get your graduate degree from the same city you have gotten your undergrad from?

As long as they have the major that you want, then sure, you can stay in the same city and even the same school for your graduate program. I am going to the same school for both my undergrad and graduate degrees.

Some people say that you should switch so that you get to know other people, professors, etc. They also say that you will learn different things from different programs. Some people used to look down upon staying at the same school, but most probably don’t care one way or the other.

It depends on where you are located– some schools don’t offer graduate degrees or programs in all fields. There is no reason why you shouldn’t get a graduate degree in the same city or from the same school you got your bachelor’s degree from.

The only drawback from having a BA & MA from the same school is that you haven’t networked as much as you could have if you attended different schools for the different degrees.

What does city have to do with getting a degree?

Many school encourage you to go to Graduate school somewhere other than where you received your bachelor’s degree.
