can you get into medical school if you failed organic chemistry twice with a D?

Good luck…keep trying hard!
Also, if you’re interested in medicine, but not a fan of the hard sciences (chemistry, physics, stuff you need to master to do well on the MCAT), you should consider a medical career OTHER than being a doctor. The nation is extremely short on good nurses. Public health is a strong field. There are LOTS of medicine related fields for you to be in if you REALLY want to do medicine.
Obviously, something didn’t connect for you in OChem. Presumably, you did okay in Inorganic. My compliments for going back and trying again. You might benefit from a tutor…or two. I can tell you from personal experience that Gen Chem was a major hurdle for me, until a friend spent an hour just talking to me about how he had learned it. My lightbulb went on and I did great. But for sure, don’t think that not grasping one subject will make you less of a physician. Most MD’s have areas of weakness.
The door may be closed to the most competetive schools, but talk to an academic advisor about attending your state university’s med school. If the advisor thinks you might have difficulty getting in there, there are alternatives. Many of the UK schools will let you into med school with a non-science degree. You can also get into most Caribbean med schools with less than stellar credentials.
Here’s the link to IMED (http://imed.ecfmg.org/). It will let you look up all the UK schools. The UK is different than the US in that each school has it’s own requirements. The Glasgow University in Scotland is one that I have heard that has easier admission standards (Now, I haven’t verified that for myself).
The Caribbean schools are known for their lower admissions standards. Check out ValueMD.com for forums for each of the schools. Of course, there will be links to each schools web site.
Good luck with things.
