Can someone help me solve this please?

Nate(Left wing) Mike (center) Ben (Right wing)

Craig (Left defense)Vasilie (Right Defense)

Todd (Goalie)

The Bobcats were in a tied game until a spectacular team effort earned the winning goal. Although the goalie never touched the puck on the last play, every other player passed the puck to help make the goal. The Bobcats passed the puck 18 times to score the final goal.

The 3 forwards passed the puck twice as many times as the defense did. Ben passed the puck 3 more times than Nate did. Craig and Vasilie passed the puck the same number of times. The left wing and the right wing combined passed the puck a total of 7 times. How many times did each person pass the puck on the last play?

Nate passed it 2 times

Mike passed it 5 times

Ben passed it 5 times

Craig passed it 3 times

Vasilie passed it 3 tiems

and Todd didnt pass it

You have to set up an equation with each person as a variable, i used each persons name as their letter. so you know that N+M+B+C+V+T=18. todd doesnt pass so thats 0. craig and vasaile passed same number of times so c=v. now ur equation looks like this n+m+b+2c=18. the three forwards passes 2 times as many times as the defense so n+m+b=2(c+v). but since c=v the equation is n+m+b=4c. ben passed 3 more times than nate so b=3+n and nate (left wing) and ben (right wing) passed total of 7 times. so n+b=7. but since b= 3+n sub that into the equation n+b=7. now that is 2n+3=7, which is n=2. since b=3+n that means b=5. so put those into the equation n+m+b=4c. this gives you 7+m=4c. that simplifies to m=4c-7. now plug what you know into your first equation n+m+b+c+v+t=18. 2+(4c-7)+5+c+c=18. that is 6c=18. so c=3
