Can anyone help me find a private student loan for a person on social security disability with no co-signer?

I am a 44yr. divorced male who has been on SSDI since 2001,I had to file bankruptcy in 1999 due to a divorce.I have been scammed once by a fake lender wanting $ up front for so-called fees of all nature. Is there such a thing anymore of legit lenders out there?

Sir – please do not go thru a private lender. The US Dept of Education can help. Fill out the FAFSA application. www.fafsa.ed.gov

The goverment will first try to qualify you for any aid you do NOT have to repay like grants. Then they will offer your loans. Dept of Ed loans have lower int rates then private and are much much more flexible. The best oart is that youdo not need a cosigner or good credit

Check out www.fafsa.ed.gov. You should qualify for financial aid, especially since you’re lower income and even more so if you have dependent(s), unless you’ve previously used it (you have 10 years from the first time you use it). You probably want to get a federal loan such as a Stafford loan.

Best of luck to you!

Jim gave a great answer explaining the debt-to-income ratio… and your mum and dad might desire to understand what meaning. you are able to attempt to stay with for inner maximum loans with the aid of different lenders. if your mum and dad are keen, they might desire to stay with for a PLUS loan. that’s a private loan that they take out of their call and that they are to blame for; besides the indisputable fact that, in the event that they have been keen to take accountability on your inner maximum loan… i don’t probable see a difference. they are going to initiate reimbursement mutually as you’re in school. in the event that they are denied a PLUS loan, then you definately would be eligible to borrow the quantity an self sufficient pupil can, it quite is $4,000/year greater. you will not have the flexibility to get $8,000 greater; besides the indisputable fact that, you ought to artwork section-time or finished-time and pay for the rest out-of-pocket… or, you will might desire to decide for a greater value-effective college to attend.
