Binghamton University questions?

I’m just wondering if i have a shot at BU. I have a 3.4 overall GPA. Ive played a varsity sport only in my junior year but i did very well and won awards. I also have some awards from the science department. I’ve been in only one club but its a club im very commited to. I got a 1550 on the SAT”s ( which im going to retake and hopefully score a 1800 or more on). Im planning to take 2 SAT II’s in the fall. Ive also taken one Ap course which i did well in. I’ve also helds jobs in the summer time. I’ve done some volunteer work but not a lot. I also have many extra curriculars. Do you think i’ll get in? Please be honest. OH yeah i’ve have 2 reletives that went there so will that give me a better shot?

can you get access to current student demographics (SAT score, GPA, etc)? perhaps you could talk to an admissions department staff from binghamton university. they could not say a hundred percent for sure, but they could give you their honest assessment and they will know the demographics and background (ie – awards, job history, volunteer work, etc) for students that apply and are admitted. you could also ask them if there is anything else you can do to help get accepted to Binghamton.

make sure to take time on the Binghamton University application in particular the essay and any personal questions. i noticed you did not say anything about this and it is extremely important. they are going to make their opinon of you based on your GPA, SAT scores, job history, extracurricular activities, and volunteer work – the hard facts you list on the application, but they are going to have dozens of similar applications. what will make you stand out is your essay/short answer questions so make sure they are good. everything i have read and heard suggests to do it well in advance and you could have some friends or family help you proofread and edit it, but then have a teacher read over it because they know what colleges look for and will help you to have a well written essay. make sure it is your own work and an honest reflection of who you are. in addition, make sure if Binghamton has an interview process that you dress professionally (a suit and tie usually black, navy blue, or dark gray) and present yourself well. do not lie or pretend to be something you are not, but make sure to turn negatives and weaknesses into positives and highlight your strengths.

you could ask your guidance counselor at school for advice about what else you can do.

i have been told undergraduate admissions are generally less competitive than graduate. i was also told it is better to be commited to one/ a few clubs than to be involved in many just to “look good” because colleges generally know that is what you are trying to do and are not impressed. they also look over time did you have good grades and extracurricular involvement throughout school or did you do it at the last minute to “impress” colleges. public/state schools are generally more competive than private schools because they get so many applications that they can have such high standards for the people they interview and ultimately admit. i would imagine having relatives who went there could be helpful, but it would probably be more helpful if it was a private school, but i have no experience with that nor have i ever been told how that effects admission.

your background sounds quite impressive to me, so i would think that you would get in. best wishes!

My grades and SAT scores are lots below you and did much less activities without AP credit and that i nevertheless have been given in. i think of in specific situations human beings get familiar with the aid of luck. i’m advantageous you may get familiar to Watson college of engineering. BTW what severe college do you flow to when you point out RIT. I graduated from Brighton
