bad world history ap test score!?

i got my world history ap test score back and i did horrible. I got an “a” for the class the whole year, but i absolutely bombed the test. this was my first ap test ever, as they only allow sophomores to take one ap test. how will this affect my future? i will be a junior this upcoming school year, and will be taking all ap classes.

i am aiming to go to NYU for college. did i just screw up my entire future because of one horrible day when my nerves got the best of me? anyone that has any knowledge of this, i appreciate your help!!

Remember one thing about AP tests: Colleges won’t see the score unless you want them to. The score is not sent directly to colleges without you asking it to be sent. Don’t worry about not doing well on AP tests because it only means that you won’t get college credit. You can still go to NYU or any colllege you want.

No I don´t think that you´ve ruined your future just by bombing the test. Schools often take in consideration that you may have been nervous. Also, the grade in your class is important to the school as well, so they will probably consider this too. In reality the year that is most important to universities is your Junior year so really study hard for your A.P.´s next year, and don´t worry about one test. If you think that you have mastered the material for your world history class you might even be able to take a test at NYU to prove that you have, but I´m not entirely sure about that. Good luck next year and don´t worry!

It depends on your definition of “bombed”. My teacher told us that, in order for an AP class to really count, you should get a 3 or above. But even you didn’t, don’t be so pessimistic, the “A” would look pretty good to colleges, and you can do better for your AP classes next year.

Nothing bad is going to happen just because you did bad on your AP. You simply won’t get college credit wherever you attend college. Also the fact that you got an A in the class, will definitely benefit you when you start to apply to colleges.

All u can do is study early. Buy a prep book. Buy them flashcards. It helped me a lot. I think you can find sample questions on the ap board exam site. Do your best on the multiple choice. On the essay or free response, put in terms you think should b there. Don’t worry too much about spelling and punctuations. Graders like to see that u know what ur talking about and not a fancy shmancy written essay.

Its really not that serious. Just another case of a substandard school system. You have to go beyond what is required to get an A in your regular studies. The sooner you learn that, the better off you will be in college. Its about going above and beyond.

My freshman year in college was hard for me, I was one of the straight A/B students that never studied, and college was a completely different ball game. I wasn’t used to studying and it was hard for me to adjust and do so.
