As a teacher…what other jobs have people done during the school year /summer to make good money?

How much opportunity is there to find jobs and actually do jobs outside of teaching during the school year. Is is too much stress??

In your first few years of teaching, you really don’t have much time for another job during the school year. You can always earn extra money through advisorships or coaching, or just supervising athletic events.

Once you have some experience, you should be able to pick up a weekend job.

During the summer, there are many places willing to hire teachers as summer help, or you could teach summer school.

Very few teachers that I have known have had the time/energy to really devote to a second job, even a simple one that may require little brain power. My suggestion is to look for something in the summer that will allow for a little extra income. I work in an international school in South Korea now and there are always companies looking for teachers to teach summer camps. Oh, and their idea of a summer camp is really just classes all day with the kids going home each night. That said, some companies pay well enough and include a flight to and from your home country. They’re not that hard and they also allows for a little travel and adventure while making some extra money!

I teach middle school. I have taught for 7 years now. I have taken on a club adviser position the past 3 years, which is extra pay. At home, I have also become an AVON representative. I can set my own hours, which is nice! I just have to make sure I get my job done. In addition to that I am a mother of 2, ages almost-6 and just-turned-4.

Hello,

I work full-time as a Nurse Administrator and weekends as a Clinical Research Nurse but I was really looking for something I could do from home which could eventually allow me the opportunity to make the income I make now but give me the freedom to have my own business. I was lucky to find a wonderful company to work with from home, make my own hours & it’s easy enough for anyone to do. No it’s not stuffing envelopes or anything like that. I never thought this was possible but I am living proof that a mother of 4 can actually have 3 jobs & still have quality time for the kids. I only have a few hours in the evening to devote to my part-time business but for now I am happy with that & it supplements my current income. You never have to quit your job but this is a great way to make a supplemental income part-time or if you really wanted to devote serious time & effort you could work more hours (20+) and make a significant income Email me back if you would like more info. on the company I work with. Gotta run. Best wishes in your endeavours.

So instead of helping her save money to eventually get her own place you are expecting her to pay a percentage of her paycheck to you. I would just set a month amount and leave it at that. If she was paying $75 then stick to that. Bouncing around on the amount isn’t right, no landlord is going to change your rent every week based on your paycheck. Set the amount she pays and stick to it any extra is hers. Right now what you are asking is that anytime she makes extra you should get paid extra just for being her parents and letting her live there. Honestly I agree with her you are taking what she earns, the harder she works to earn extra money the more money you take from her that is not right. If she does extra hours or gets an extra tip that should be her extra money to live on not your extra money you didn’t do the extra work she did.

I’m a second grade teacher that freelances for the local newspaper. Because I work in the education field, they normally give me education based stories to write. Sometimes I even write about my own school.

I get paid about $50 – $75.00 an article which covers my gas for the month.

try waitressing or bartending. You’ve got to have “people skills” to work in the schools so why not. Usually the tips are great too. Good luck. To supplement my income I sell items on ebay.
