As far as I know, ‘hostility’ comes from the Latin ‘hostilis’, from ‘hostis’, meaning enemy. ‘Hostel’ comes from the Latin ‘hospitale’, from ‘hospes’, meaning host/guest/visitor. But I could be wrong, this is recalling my English classes from several years ago, so double check that!
