Are our children just sliding though?
What are the academic regulations/requirements for graduating? When I was in school, you didn’t get thrown in to the next grade to get rid of you, you actually had to pass.

I’m not sure anyone is even paying attention to any academic requirements. They seem to just move them through. When we have kids coming out of high school that can’t read and write, there’s a major problem. We not only had to read and write (legibly) we had to be able to do basic math. Have you seen the spelling in Yahoo answers alone, it’s pathetic. When my daughter was in 4th grade she came home and told me she needed a calculator for math. I set her and her teacher straight on that issue. I told her she would learn the math and I informed the teacher if she wasn’t capable of teaching it maybe she needed to be replaced with someone who could. Everyone, teachers, parents, administrators are looking for the easy way out these days and it’s the kids who are suffering for it.

if you show up its really hard to fail. Pretty much any idiot can get a hs diploma today.
