Any Persuasive Speech Topic Suggestions?
so for example, if I did a speech on lowering energy cost in our homes- that would only be for personal change. In another case, if I did: The government needs to make regulation for restrictions on energy consumption- this pertains to the public making changes.
Thank you in advance for your thoughts and suggestions. =D

Most people think that fireworks are completely safe, but perhaps your speech could look at the problem from a larger viewpoint, from that of the city council (government, firemen, policemen, hospital staff) that have to deal with the larger issues. It might convince people after you present current events from your own town newspaper, and by using statistics that you can get online, that certain fireworks are not safe in young children’s hands. At the end you could end on a positive note by reminding your audience about the great fireworks demonstration put on by your town for free and all of the activities for friends and family to take part in at the event in a safe, fun way?
Several children in our town were badly hurt this Fourth of July because their parents thought it would be OK for then to light off the higher powered roman candles. In addition, a man just a mile away had his entire home burn down because someone launched a big mortar-launched firework and it landed on his roof. This seems to be a subject that can be researched. Perhaps you can make up a chart that you can reveal during your talk showing the increases in injuries by year, that breaks out adults and young children. Make the chart very easy to read from the back of the room.
Your talk might follow this outline: A statement of the problem, the generally accepted “current wisdom”, why that current wisdom is now being called into question, a discussion of safer alternatives (with evidence supporting each alternative), and a recommended solution (and why this was the best).
Remember one of the most important things that they don’t really talk to you about during class is that your confidence in the subject material is a huge contributor to your persuasive speech. Practice the speech at least three times per day over at least two days in front of family or a patient friend. Then in front of a mirror. Waiting a day between practice sessions is important as ideas take time to solidify on how you can make your speech better. Plan on what to do with your hands before the speech. I recommend keeping your unused hand at your side, with your feet firmly planted in one spot. People will be listening intently to your talk if they feel you are calm and confident in the subject.
Good luck on your speech! I have added a few references. Thanks.
