Am I screwed?

No, you’re not screwed! As long as you get decent grades, and don’t do anything dumb to get yourself kicked out, you will be fine to transfer after a semester or a year. It is a very common practice to switch schools, even amongst 4 year institutions.
However, a word of caution…. Make sure that you check with both schools to ensure that whatever classes you take at SCSU will not only transfer to your other school, but that they will fit into your program of study. You may want to take mostly gen eds for your first year, as they have a better chance of transferring without any problems.
Good Luck!!

Yes you can transfer if you do well at SCSU. Look at UConn’s website and try to learn how they assess transfer credits.
And yes, if you graduate from an inferior university then your chances of attending a good law school are weakened.
