ACT vs. SAT.. I’m 25 & finally starting college..?

Community college 4 now.. but for later, which test(s) can/should I take? Can I still take the SAT now, as a senior citizen? Thanks!

A little while ago, the SAT changed and became a lot more similar to the ACT, but there are still a few differences.

The SAT is 1/3 math, while the ACT is only 1/4 math.

The SAT tests vocabulary, and the ACT doesn’t.

But tests are about 1/4 reading comprehension, but the ACT also has a Science section, which is kind of like reading comprehension, but you are reading about science and have to look at charts sometimes.

SAT has a mandatory essay, that counts as about 1/10 of your score. The ACT has a voluntary essay.

Both are about 1/4 grammar.

The SAT takes longer.

The best way to decide what test you should take is to go to your local library, where they are sure to have lots of prep books, take a couple practice tests of each one, and see which one you do better in. They have different types of scores, so you’ll need to look at your percentiles.

You can also get a free practice test online

ACT: http://www.act.org

As BB said, you can take both tests. There are no age limits.

B.B. I did the same thing when I was in my twenties. A kid asked me what high school I went to. I said I didn’t go to high school, to which he replied, “You’re an 8th grader?”

Age does not matter for these tests. I am an ACT and SAT tutor and I take the tests whenever they are offered.

I am usually the oldest one in the room, but as long as you don’t mind, no one else will.

You can have a little fun and tell the kids around you that you are in “quality control” at College Board. “Just making sure the test is still difficult” you will say.

while you’re graduating from college, not extreme college, that’s uncertain that the Academy could settle for you, commonly using you being close to to or over the max age. 2d, why could you want to pass to the Academy in case you have already got a bachelor’s degree? There are no masters or Ph.D courses on the Academy so what objective could attempting to get in serve?

You can take both, your age doesn’t matter. Just register on their websites. Take whichever test you think you will do better on. I’ve taken both and personally, I think the ACT is easier because overall the test is shorter and there is no penalty for incorrect answers.

i dont know about which one to take cuz of ur age, but if you have to choose do the SAT. ACT tests alot of subjects, and you have been out of school for a while, so it will be very hard. SAT is english skills and math…so do that, less subjects to study for. i took SAT.
