Accept it Or Deny it?
There was this sheet given by my guidance counselor, a list of magnet programs from local high schools in the city. Each magnet program focuses on different career fields, giving you a background check about what the field will be like. Well I applied to the maximum of 3 programs & got accepted to Health Professions. For me, I would take ½ day at my home school learning the required courses for the field, & the rest of the day at a University watching surgery & etc. My guidance counselor said that if I take this program, it would help me further my career (since I want to become a surgeon) & would give me a good chance of getting into a good college. But then that’s when the problem comes in.

Given the current climate at the Magnet school – I would advise you choose the Private School option. It appears as though the magnet school is struggling to gain or re-gain control of itself, and that turmoil could distract you from your goal. Perhaps AFTER things settled down an opportunity might come around again, but given the information you’ve provided thus far – it would be a poor choice.
The Private school will obviously have different issues, perhaps not as dynamic as the magnet school, but probably some things you’ll have to deal with. But at least it sounds as though you would be given a better opportunity to focus on your education rather than be distracted by all the antics the magnet school is currently struggling with.
– My suggestion…private school.

Talk to your guidance counselor about your concerns maybe he/she can help you find another school that has the same courses if not then do the other.
