A couple of questions involving sociology?

Hejsan,

So apparently I’m the first person ever to fail a module in sociology (1st year). Funny thing is, during the exam I was under the impression that I actually have a point there, that it all makes sense.

Before I just rush in there and make noise and ultimatums, I think I’ll just type these questions here and see how one would go about them (I thought the answer is kinda obvious, but hey – I managed to score under 40)

Not the exact text, but:

1) What does Civil Partnership Act mean for our society?

2) The British class system no longer exists.

3) Changes in demography and related issues.

I mean, are there, like A LOT of ways of answering this? What the heck, you have to be quite dull to fail it, even if you came unprepared.

The most common mistakes students make are not presenting your case well, with supporting details, and not fully answering the questions.

For the question about the Civil Partnership Act, you would need to discuss what changes the Act caused in society. Will it lead to more acceptance of homosexuality? Or will the Act divide society much like Roe v. Wade (the Supreme Court ruling that legalized abortion) did in the States. Will the Act make homosexual unions more stable by giving them legal rights and responsibilities, which would therefore make society as a whole more stable?

As for questions 2 and 3, those aren’t questions. But, for number 2, you could discuss whether you think a class system does still exist. On one hand, people have class mobility. But, on the other hand, people often stay in the class they were born in.

For question 3, it seems like immigration (especially of Arabs) would be a hot topic to mention. You could also mention dwindling birth rates, and even how dwindling birth rates necessitates immigration.
