It doesn’t matter. I don’t think there is a standard. Just use small and common words/names. You don’t want to use a word/name that could be mistaken for another letter. You wouldn’t want to say “C as in Cathey” since it could also be spelled Kathey. Instead use “C as in Cat”.

Here’s what I use. Many of these are commonly used for this. Just use whatever word you can think of:

A as in Apple

B as in Boy

C as in Cat

D as in Dog

E as in Edgar

F as in Frank

G as in Gilbert

H as in Henry

I as in Igloo

J as in John

K as in Kite

L as in Lindsay

M as in Melissa

N as in Nancy

O as in Oscar

P as in Paul

Q as in Question

R as in Roger

S as in Stafanie

T as in Tom

U as in Umbrella

V as in Victor

W as in White

X as in x-Ray

Y as in Yolanda

Z as in Zebra

You can use any words you want to. I know of no rules on this except for radio transmissions which use a set system.

Aviation: alpha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot, golf, hotel, india, juliet, kilo, lima, mike, november, oskar, papa, quebec, romeo, sierra, tango, uniform, victor, whiskey, xray, yankee, zulu.

NATO uses the same except they spell oskar “oscar”.

You can’t be serious.

Do you really think I’m going to go down each letter of the alphabet and least each, one by one, with an associated word that begins with that letter?

I don’t think so.

Anyone foolish enough to take you up on your little challenge deserves the ten points.

Hey kid, this is not the right way to begin learning. There are too many words with which these letters can be used. I suggest the proper way to learn is to buy a dictionary. I am sure you’ll find it useful over some time.
