I need help with the word “trumps”?
I again have trouble finding the exact meaning of this word for this sentence: Blind trumps wheelchair: wheelchair trumps pregnant; pregnant trumps old; old trumps whatever is left.
the man is quadriplegic(paralized in both arms and legs)
i don’t know what vocabulary word fits in this sentence, does any one know what he means?

In this case, “trumps” means it “outweighs in importance or seniority.” It comes from playing cards, where one suit is of a higher value than the others; if that is played it “trumps” the other suit(s), and means that the person wins the hand. Synonyms include beat, better, eclipse, outshine, surpass, etc.

Trump means to beat as in cards. It wasn’t clear what sentence you were struggling with, but a quadriplegic would be in a wheel chair and trump pregnancy..

Trumps means wins over, is better than, or beats. So (being) blind is better than (being in a) wheelchair: (being in a) wheelchair is better than (being) pregnant: etc.

I think he is giving his opinion about the significance of each of those things from what he thinks hinders people the most to what he thinks hinders people the least. At least that would make sense as I can’t imagine it being the other way around. I can’t imagine anyone seriously preferring any of the other three things to old age.
