There was Salem Town and there was Salem Village. If you get a map of where the accused witches/wizards live and where the accusers live, you might notice patterns. People living nearer the shore were more worldly, while people living in the farms more inland were not so worldly in the merchant world. The whole Salem place had one church, but Salem Town and Salem Village differed on choice of a minister. Tensions in colonial society? some people were religious, others wanted to pursue material gain, etc etc.
Bacon’s Rebellion… There were wealthy landowners and poorer workers, mix in some Native Americans-colonists tension, and the powder keg explodes.
