Solve 3x – 0.11 = 2(x – 0.66)?
Favorite Answer
3x – 0.11 = 2x – (0.66*2)
3x – 0.11 = 2x – 1.32
3x – 2x = -1.32 + 0.11
x = -1.21
First, multiply the 2 into x and -0.66
3x-0.11 = 2x-1.32
Now, you have an x on the left and right sides of the equation, when you want to have it on just one side. I’ll show you the easiest way to do it first, then the other way that works just as well.
3x – 0.11 = 2x – 1.32
-2x===== -2x
——————————
x – 0.11 = 0x – 1.32
(Anything multiplied by 0 is 0, so 0x is just turned into 0.)
x – 0.11 = 0 – 1.32
Now, you still need x to be by itself. Since it’s being subtracted by 0.11, you have to add in order to get rid of it.
x – 0.11 = -1.32
==+0.11=== +0.11
x = -1.32 + 0.11
x= -1.21
Sorry if that looks a little confusing; it won’t allow the spacing, so I had to use ========= when adding or subtracting.
x + -0.11 = -1.32
x = -1.21
