How cloud lawsuits against corporations and organizations undermine individual responsibility?

Say, for example, somebody is using some of the hair dissolving gel (Veet or its store brand competitor). They leave the cap undone and the tube of gel on the floor while they go to set the egg timer and their younger sibling eats some of it and dies (unlikely, but this is hypothetical.) The individual could try to sue Veet, but it wasn’t really the company’s fault. The individual left the cap undone and on the floor and the kid came along and ate it. The company had no control over those circumstances.
