The best way to write a summary is to restate the main points.
For example, what is Romeo and Juliet about? Write down the main points and go from there.
A summary is basically the story (or whatever you just read) in a nutshell. You want to get to the point and get done.

Depends on the breadth of the document you are trying to summarize. For example if the document is a few pages long, just consider the opening sentence of each paragraph; that’s where the main points are. The bigger the document though, the more you’ll have to condense!
