Unless you are listing *multiple* aliases, you should typically use “My name is ____”.

By “multiple aliases” I mean if you are giving someone multiple, *different* names. For example, I have both a Korean name and an English name. If I was going to give both of them, I would say “My names are MinWoo and John.”

However, if you want to avoid that complication, remember that you can always just say “My name is MinWoo in Korean and John in English.” Just replace my name with your’s.

“My name is _____” is the typical way of using that expression in English. Although it is not grammatically incorrect, I never really hear anyone say “My names are ____”.

“my names are…” sound way too awkward. a name expresses an identity, and the thought a single person affirming and expressing multiple identities, one distinct from the others, is hilarious, to say the least.

however, there could be another way putting it without causing much confusion:

my name is ….

1)i am also known by the name/s…

2)my friends call me …, but you can also call me …

In both, the case (singular/plural) of the subject and predicate are in agreement, so to that extent, both are correct. However, whether you’re referring to your first name, last name or full name (first and last together), the expression used is “my name is” (singular). Personally, I have never heard anyone say “My names are”.

My name is Ctent Mstery is the best expression. My names are…… used when you have more than one name, for example: My names are Tom and John – which is a rare case.
