Viola Problems?
I have played the Viola for almost 5 years now! There is this girl in my class that tries to challenge me for 1st chair. But every year i have been 1st chair and she has always been 2nd. I think she is taking lessons this summer and I am not. How do I still practice and still be 1st chair?

Try some of these:
1.scales
2.bowings
3.challenge yourself
4.play along w/ a CD
5.try to make a viola harmony for one of your favorite songs
6.make sure your bow has just the right amount of rosin to withstand your type of strings

Well you must be doing something right if your getting first chair every year…would it be so bad if you were 2nd chair this year?
Just keep practicing and I’m sure all will be fine.

If your director has the music selected for next year, you may be able to get it early to practice.
Don’t forget scales and etudes if they are part of the challenge.
